Canadian FellowshipsThe Canadian Conservation Research Fellowship was designed to aid in the professional development of recent Canadian graduates as they pursue careers in the field of conservation biology. Every year, the Centre for Conservation Research (CCR) and the Alberta Society of Professional Biologists offer a single graduate or undergraduate student the opportunity to participate in a 10-month research fellowship through the Calgary Zoo. The Canadian Fellowship provides recipients with experience in the field and valuable knowledge of conservation logistics. Recipients receive training in conservation techniques, and are mentored by experienced researchers at CCR. Opportunities also exist for recipients to take part in journal discussions, and to attend and give research presentations. The experience gained through participation in this Canadian Fellowship program has allowed past recipients to vastly improve their eligibility for future conservation work and graduate studies. International ScholarshipsThe CCR’s International Scholarship program exposes biologists from other countries to Canadian conservation initiatives. Recipients of the International Scholarship are trained in the scientific methods of species recovery so that when they return home they can apply their new skills to conservation initiatives in their own countries. Many conservation issues are global in nature. In order to maximize the effectiveness of conservation efforts worldwide, it is essential that scientists share their knowledge and techniques with each other. The International scholarships offered at the CCR are designed to reach out beyond Canada’s borders and foster conservation efforts on a global scale. The Centre for Conservation Research is not accepting International Scholarship applications at this time.
