Conservation Outreach Information

Conservation Outreach initiates and/or supports conservation projects where species exist in the wild.

Two key Calgary Zoo staff members have been involved in growing and managing the Conservation Outreach initiative since the mid 1990’s. Together, these individuals have accumulated more than forty years of successful involvement in conservation enterprises.

Kevin Strange, Head of Conservation Outreach, was instrumental in the creation of what became an international award winning and largest informal conservation education enterprise in the Province and is a well known educator and naturalist in his own right. He took over the enterprise in 2010. Brian Keating, Honourary Advisor, was Head of Conservation Outreach from 1995 – 2008. He is a nationally recognized Naturalist and radio and television personality who shares his travel adventures and enthusiasm for nature through his popular guest speaking schedule. Brian founded and pioneered the Calgary Zoo’s Conservation Outreach enterprise from 1998 - 2010
