The Calgary Zoo and Botanical Gardens is pleased to present an evening with author Hugh Skinner Gardeners are keenly protective of the food plants in their gardens, eagerly awaiting the rewards of growing our own produce. It can be devastating to find our crops attacked by pests or diseases. Although it may be tempting to pull out the heavy artillery, Hugh Skinner has a better idea! His new book, Gardening, Naturally, A chemical free handbook for the Prairies (co-authored with Sara Williams) offers a compendium of alternative control tools, designed to be less harmful and support a garden ecology for healthier people and a healthier environment. In this entertaining and informative session, Hugh will focus on edibles and best strategies for keeping them as healthy as possible without compromising our ecological ideals.
This presentation has been made possible by the support of Coteau Books and Pages on Kensington.
Hugh’s newest book, along with previous works written with Sara Williams - Best Trees and Shrubs for the Prairies and Best Groundcovers and Vines for the Prairies – will be available for purchase from Pages on Kensington at this event. ** WITH APOLOGIES FROM THE SPEAKER, THIS PROGRAM HAS BEEN CANCELLED. | Date | Thursday, April 14, 2011. | | Time | 7:00 - 9:00pm | | Cost | $20 |
