The Calgary
Zoo, with its ever-changing displays of animals, plants, and even
dinosaurs, is one of the reasons why Calgary is such a great place
to live. The Zooshare Program was created by the Calgary Zoo and
an anonymous donor, to provide access to the recreational and
educational opportunities offered by the Zoo to all members of
our community, regardless of economic status. The program has
been extremely well received: since 1992, over 100,000 economically
disadvantaged Calgarians have been able to visit the Zoo because
of it.
The
Zooshare Program is administered through the City of Calgary's
Fee Assistance Program. Qualified participants receive complimentary
passes to the Calgary Zoo that may be used for daily admission
to the Calgary Zoo, 364 days per year (closed Christmas Day), between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.,
or for Zoolights admission, between 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.
Unfortunately,
Zooshare passes cannot be accepted for Boo at the Zoo, Zoogala,
and Zoo Year's Eve.
