      Science Saving Species

By the year 2025, one-fifth of all species presently on Earth may be extinct.

Our planet is facing unprecedented species extinction at the hands of a single species - humans. In 1996, 25% of the world's mammal species and 11% of bird species were at significant risk of total extinction. We are currently experiencing one of the fastest mass extinctions in the planet's 4.5-billion-year history, referred to as the "Sixth Extinction."

The Calgary Zoo, its members and visitors are helping to reverse this frightening trend. You can join the battle to restore endangered species and their habitats by exploring the initiatives taking place at the Centre for Conservation Research.
